In the ear of an other
If our fate lies in the ear of the other, as Jacques Derrida suggests, how can we re-listen to the world in ways that embrace complexity, mutability and that centre uncertainty – conditions we live with and through daily? In the ear of an other is an audio artwork in three parts, lightly subtitled. Central to each listening post is an idea – sonic geography, algorithmic voice, language as home – that invites the listener to reposition themselves in the ear of an other. The subtlest of shifts change how we listen.
