Abandoned duckboards crossing over Hirvisuo in Northwest Finland

Five audio-makers from around the world produce a series of BBC Radio 3's innovative Between the Ears features in miniature. Each edition inspired by a different aspect of the weather.

Into the mire travels to Hirvisuo, a mire complex 50km northeast of Oulu, Finland, where the changeable weather carries more than just heat, water droplets and pressure.

Laura Vuoksenmaa, biologist specialising in mosses and liverworts
Timo Jokitalo, Other Spaces Collective member, mathematician and software engineer
Hanna Heino, Other Spaces Collective member, dancer and performance artist

The program was co-produced with sound designer and composer, Jarkko Kela. Jarkko is a Helsinki-based sound designer, sound editor and experimental musician. He has widely collaborated with filmmakers, visual artists, poets, dancers.

Into the mire was made for the BBC's Between the Ears program. Note: Listeners outside the UK will not be able to access the audio through the BBC website.
